HEALTH AND SAFETY A PRIORITY AT SURE SKATE
Whether you are a first time skater or pro,
qualified marshalls and first aiders are on site at the Sure Skate
ice rink in the Villa Marina Gardens to provide professional
guidance and assistance to all those taking to the ice this
season.
Mr Goodall, Sure Skate Logistics Manager
comments: “Health and Safety is a priority for us at the ice rink.
As with any extreme sport it is a necessity to ensure that the
ground staff, such as the marshals and those providing medical
services, are highly trained. We aren’t running the ice rink at its
full capacity. It can hold 205 skaters per session, but we have
limited this to 160 as an extra pre-caution for skaters, to ensure
that everyone enjoys the experience.”
Whilst ‘safe skating’ is a priority for the
Sure Skate team, it is important that skaters taking to the ice are
aware of the ‘Rules of the Rink’. These rules are there for a
reason, are easy to follow and include rules such as:
- Don’t skate in the opposite direction to the crowd
- Don’t skate at excessive speed
- Don’t wear long coats or scarves on the ice
- Do follow the instructions of the skate marshals
- Do make sure your skates are a good fit and are securely
fastened
- Be considerate to others
Scott continues: “We have an impeccable safety record. It is
important that everyone who does skate reads the safety information
that we have displayed at the ice rink and on the Sure Skate
website. Our marshals place high priority on enforcing safety on
the ice rink and have no hesitation in removing anyone from the
rink if they do not comply with the rules that we have put in
place.”
