BE FIRST TO SKATE ON THE ICE THIS CHRISTMAS!
Primary school students across the Isle of Man
are being given the chance to be the first people on the “Sure
Skate” ice rink this Christmas when it opens in November.
Classes spanning year groups 3 – 6 (eight to 11
years old) are being asked to enter a competition to design a
poster to promote ‘Sure Skate’, and write 50 words as to why they
should be the first people to try out the real ice rink that Sure
are bringing to the island.
The winning class will have a private
ice-skating lesson from ‘Dancing on Ice’ star Kryan Bracken in the
Villa Marina Gardens. The lesson will take place ahead of the
launch event on Monday 23rd November 2009.
Julie Heselton, Marketing Manager for Sure,
commented: ‘Sure Skate is going to be a great community event for
the whole island and this is an excellent opportunity for students
to demonstrate their artistic and team-building skills. In return,
they have the opportunity to get their skates on and learn from one
of the most popular ‘Dancing on Ice Stars’ to-date and put their
new ice moves into practice over the Christmas period.’
Classes are being asked to work together to
design an A4 poster that advertises the fully-covered, real ice
rink and the fact that up to 200 people can skate at any one time.
Closing dates for school entries need to be submitted to Sure no
later that Friday 6th November 2009. The winning entry will be
displayed on the colonnade glass panels of the Villa Marina.
Schools should submit a hand drawn, A4 poster
together with a typed 50 word submission on why the class should
win the competition to Kate Hegarty, Events & Sponsorship
Co-ordinator, 2nd Floor, 14 Athol Street, Douglas, IM1 1JA no later
than Friday 6th November 2009.
